I am going to assume you are connecting via IMAP and non POP3 I have a few thoughts on why you might be having difficulty. They are local within Thunderbird and, for the most part, work very well. I am mostly working with FROM, and SUBJECT, with only one or two BODY based filters. I currently have about 89 filters so far. They appear to be configured correctly as per other posts that I have seen about setting up Thunderbird rules.Īm I missing something? Is the client just not able to process that many rules on that many emails? I will provide as much info as I can to help troubleshoot. These filters run on my whole Gmail inbox and basically just look at the sender address and move the messages to other folders accordingly. I have rebooted my computer a few times and verified that the application is up to date. I have tried running them all individually and as a group manually but they seem to have totally frozen up. They will occasionally apply, or will apply in part. For example, I wrote a rule to strain away college emails, one to strain LinkedIn emails, one to strain service-related emails, and one to separate out IMPORTANT emails, etc. I then got to work writing 6 filters to help sort out the thousands of emails that I had. ![]() When I added my personal Gmail into Thunderbird it just moved all of my mail in and synced up as expected. All of my Email still exists in Gmail and, for now, that is what I use. I have been looking for an Outlook alternative, and settled on the Thunderbird client. I recently moved over to FOSSware and am now using Linux almost exclusively. Specs: AMD Ryzen 7 3800X, 16GB RAM 3200MhZ, Nvidia RTX 2080 Super Distribution: I am on a lightly customized Pop!_OS 22.04 LTS installation
